Water Flow Monitoring
A township in British Columbia, Canada, uses a process signal data logger, the ACR SRP-007-128KB, to monitor volume flow rate at their pumping and distribution station.
The municipality uses well water during normal months and buys water from the Regional Authority during the high demand summer months. Discrepancies in readings could mean losses of hundreds of thousands of dollars. In the past, these discrepancies have been argued at length without a satisfactory resolution. Thanks to ACR data loggers, the municipality saves money not only on water usage but also on potential legal costs.
An SRP-007-128KB is connected to a flow meter that has a 4-20mA output. This current output is then read by the data logger and converted to GPM readings, which are stored and cataloged electronically on a monthly basis.
