Equation Generator Instructions

How to use the online Equation Generator

The Equation Generator can be used to generate custom equations for use with TrendReader 2 software.

Basic Instructions:

  1. Select a product.
  2. Select a measurement channel type.
  3. For SmartReader & SmartReader Plus loggers, you have the option to take the calibration values of the logger into account by selecting the Use calibration checkbox.
  4. Enter the transducer output values (Xmin, Xmax).
  5. Enter the actual values (Ymin, Ymax).
  6. Click the Generate Equation button.

If there are no errors, the equation will be derived in the Equation box. You can copy and paste the equation into your TrendReader 2 software.

Note: For OWL - DC Volt, the equation will be derived for full scale only; adjustment should be done in TrendReader software. For more information regarding this topic, refer to Chapter 6 of your TrendReader manual.

Example 1: SmartReader

Consider using a transmitter with 4 - 20 mA to determine flow rate between 0 - 1000 liters per second.

  • Select 4 to 20 mA
  • Select Use Calibration (optional)
  • Xmin = 4, Xmax = 20
  • Ymin = 0, Ymax = 1000

Example 2: SmartReader Plus

Consider using a transducer with 1 - 5 volts output to monitor pressure in a vessel between 0 - 100 kPa.

  • Select 0 to 5 V
  • Check the Use Calibration box
  • Xmin = 1, Xmax = 5
  • Ymin = 0, Ymax = 100

Example 3: OWL

Consider using a transmitter with 4 - 20 mA output to determine PH in a liquid.

  • Select DC Current
  • Xmin = 4, Xmax = 20
  • Ymin = 0, Ymax = 14
